Grilled watermelon

watermelon – 800 g
salt – 2 g
black cardamom – 2 g (will give a smoked flavor + 2 g of thyme)
olive oil – 2 tsp
lemon juice – 1 tbsp.

Cooking method:

  1. Cut the watermelon “steaks”, remove the seeds, blot on all sides with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Option one: sprinkle watermelon “steaks” with dried thyme, sea salt, black cardamom with smoked aroma, sprinkle with olive oil, and lemon juice. Fry on both sides on a grill or grill pan.
  3. Option two: prepare the “marinade” – 1.2 tsp. honey + 1.5 tbsp lemon juice + 1 tsp vegetable oil. Mix everything thoroughly, grease one side of the watermelon steak with “marinade” and immediately put it on the grill with this side, then you need to grease the other side with “marinade” and turn the watermelon over. Fry until tender 5-8 minutes.
  4. The third option: grilled peeled and dried watermelon “steaks” without just two sides, watermelon sugar caramelizes them yourself, I recommend serving such a watermelon with herbs, chopped Feta cheese, you can add balsamic cream and mint. Bon Appetit!
